Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers about cost, process, and what to expect.
Does hiring a planner actually save money, or does it just add a fee on top?
It's a fair question -- here's the honest case for it. Vendors who work with planners regularly often extend better rates than a one-time client gets on their own, because we're a repeat source of business for them, not a single booking. That gap alone can offset a meaningful part of what you'd pay us. Beyond price, the bigger savings are the mistakes we catch before they cost you: a contract with no cancellation clause, a headcount that doesn't match the venue's minimum, a vendor double-booked for your date. Any one of those can cost far more to fix after the fact than it would have cost to plan around from the start. And then there's your own time -- researching, calling, comparing, following up with six different vendors -- which has a real cost even if it never shows up on an invoice.
What's the difference between Day-of Coordination and Full-Service Planning?
Day-of Coordination is for people who enjoy the planning itself and have already booked their venue and vendors -- we step in a few weeks out, build the run-of-show timeline, confirm every vendor, and manage the entire event on-site so you're not fielding logistics questions on the day. Full-Service Planning starts from the first conversation: budget, venue and vendor sourcing, design, timeline, and full day-of execution -- one point of contact for everything. Most clients land clearly in one camp or the other once they picture the day itself.
How far in advance should I book?
It depends on the event. Weddings and engagements are usually booked six to twelve months out, since venues and popular vendors fill up early. Birthdays, showers, and graduations move faster -- four to eight weeks out is common. If your date is closer than that, reach out anyway; what's possible depends more on vendor availability than on a fixed cutoff.
Do you work with any budget, or is there a minimum?
"We'll bring your vision to life on any budget" isn't a slogan for us -- it's how we actually plan. Tell us what matters most for your event and what you have to work with, and the plan gets built around that, not the other way around. A tighter budget usually means being more selective about which vendors and details matter most, not being turned away.
Do I have to use your vendors, or can I bring my own?
Either way works. Many clients lean on our vendor relationships because it's faster and takes the guesswork out of finding someone reliable, but if you already have a caterer, photographer, or venue you love, we plan around them. Full-Service and Day-of clients alike can mix and match.
What happens if a vendor cancels last-minute?
This is exactly the kind of risk full-service planning exists to absorb. For anything above a small guest count, we keep a backup option in mind for the vendors most prone to last-minute cancellation -- catering and entertainment especially -- so a single vendor falling through doesn't become your problem to solve on the day of your event.
What areas do you serve?
The greater Los Angeles area -- from intimate at-home celebrations to full venue weddings. If you're unsure whether your location is in range, just ask when you reach out.
How do I get started?
Reach out through our contact form with your event type, approximate date, and guest count. We'll schedule a free consultation call to talk through your vision and budget and figure out which service fits best -- no pressure, no obligation.
