One of the first questions almost every client asks us is some version of “is it too late?” Usually it isn’t — but the right lead time really does depend on what you’re planning.

Weddings: 9-12 months out

Full-service weddings involve the most moving pieces — venue, catering, florals, rentals, entertainment — and the best vendors in the San Fernando Valley and Santa Clarita Valley book out well in advance, especially for spring and fall Saturdays. Starting 9-12 months ahead gives you first pick of venues and lets us negotiate on your behalf while there’s still real availability to negotiate with.

That said, we’ve pulled together weddings in as little as 8 weeks. It’s possible — it just means fewer choices and faster decisions.

Showers and birthdays: 6-10 weeks out

Baby showers, bridal showers, and milestone birthdays move faster. Six to ten weeks is comfortable for venue booking, a themed dessert table, entertainers or characters for kids’ parties, and rental coordination without anyone feeling rushed.

Gender reveals, graduations, and engagements: 4-6 weeks out

These tend to be smaller and more contained — a reveal moment, a graduation gathering, an engagement celebration — and four to six weeks is usually enough runway for décor, catering, and a venue if one’s needed.

Corporate events: depends on the guest list

A small client dinner can come together in a few weeks. A product launch or company-wide celebration behaves more like a wedding in terms of lead time, particularly if it needs a venue that can hold your full headcount.
